The lab results are back

Well, we got the news today and it was not what we had hoped. The doctor told us that the tumor is a gliosarcoma, which is a rare and very aggressive form of brain cancer. Statistically, life expectancy with this type of cancer is 6 months to 5 years. Curt is in great physical condition and there are a number of treatment options available, so we are hoping and praying for a good outcome. We have peace in knowing that God's plans for us are loving and sovereign, and that He is in complete and total control.

We are so thankful to all of you for praying for us during this emotion-filled week. As we move forward, please pray for wisdom for the doctors in developing a course of treatment. Please also pray with us for the cancer to go into complete remission and for Curt to be healed, for we know with our God all things are possible!!

  1. This is a huge disappointment. There are really no words except that we are so very, very sorry. We send our love and our hugs to you all sitting in that hospital room that feels so far away over on Oahu, and we are glad you will be back here soon. Life is so unfair, but you two are strong and smart and will find the best way through this. Know that you are loved by an island-full of people who will walk thru this with you and who will pray every step of the way. Our God is big and He's powerful and He's most present in our darkest moments. May you feel the peace that passes understanding today.
    Much, much love,
    Karen and Joe

But we pray that His unfailing Love and Peace will hold You so tightly today. We Pray that you would experience God's presence in ways that you never have before and that His resurrection power would move over Curt's body and dispel all traces of Cancer in Jesus Name. Here's a link to her blog - may this be an encouragement to you all in this time of uncertainty. We are all holding you up in prayers. We're in this together. Love you all. 14. Our love, prayers and thoughts are with you. I'm wondering is it too many donuts or not enough that got you in this place. Pete says it is definitely not enough so he is going back to the old routine of his, A donut a day keeps the doctor away. I have a big job in trying to reverse that habit. Our prayers are with you and know that our God is such a big God and He knows and loves you much more that we possibly can and has you in the palm of His hand. You, Patti and the children and grandchildren will be in our prayers for strength and wisdom in your decisions on treatment. God has a plan just for you and I don't think that He is finished with you yet. So just hang on there..Pete and Jan

  15. With all my heart and soul I prayed, along with my family and we are torn at the heart with the news. But we are certain of this....that God, in all His Soverignty, is bigger than any adversity...any challenge....any sickness. And He will show Himself as the Almighty God, who hears our prayers, strengthens our Faith, and gives us Peace.
    All our love,
    Shane, Lita & Ohana

  16. We know and believe that, as you continue to trust God He will sustain you all through the days ahead. We know that His words are powerful and true and will continue to be all comfort and peace through difficult moments
Isa. 62:3 You will keep Curt and his Ohana in your perfect peace, as their minds are stayed on you.

Isa. 40:31 As Curt and Ohana wait on you Lord you shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Proverbs, 62:8 We will Trust you at all times, for we are your people. We Pour out our hearts before you. Our God who is a refuge for all of us.
    Amen & Amen
Much Love and continued prayers flow from my heart.

    Bless His Holy Name

  17. You know when you're at the end of the rope and your fingers are slipping off of that last thread that holds you to heaven and it seems like you're done? Then you look up because your not falling into the abyss like you thought you would and you see His unflinching grip on your wrist as He looks in your fearful eyes and He says "don't worry I've got you" and you realize again that it is only by His doing that you keep on, or go home with Him. Do you know that feeling? Maybe it was just me. But that's when I settled down and most of the pressure to try and figure it all out eased.
You are where you are because He has you there, certainly not the place any of us that love you would hope for, but He will never let you go! He'll be taking us all home in various ways and sometimes odd times and He has the timetable worked out. So here's looking to see you at my son's college graduation in 7 years.
We're praying for you and asking the Holy Spirit to send you and your family His peace, grace and faith that will be an anchor in the days ahead.

  18. Curt Family:

I certainly dont get it and wonder "God, what are your plans in all this?" Then I was reminded in Kelly's post .. "God is good and his mercy and lovingkindness extends and overflows to His children in time of need.
He can be nothing else." In our confusion, hurt and doubt, I hope you too will hold on to those words. TRUST... that is the only word I can cling to, do I trust you Lord? May we all put our TRUST in our heavenly Father during the "whys" in life.
I love you guys and WILL continue to pray, reminding God of you Curt and healing.

Looking forward to haveing you all home soon.
    Les

  19. Dear Dear Patti, Curt & Family! Oh how your heart cries have become ours and we continue to meet You on the side of our Savior's heart, resting and trusting secure in Him hoping for the best as He assures us, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;and when pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I AM the Lord, your God,the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."

  20. Dear Curt, Patti and family...
I love you all so much...and, like each of you, did not want this to be the news...YET, what is bigger than those emotions is the heart and the healing that our God gives us in the darkest of hours. As you know, He is ALWAYS there and He can heal you.
Curt and Patti...as long as I've known you, you have always demonstrated your unwavering faith in Him. As you know circumstances are not always joyful and we're not always thankful, yet, my prayer is that you will continue to reside in our God with hope...and continue to...
"Be joyful always, give thanks in ALL things and pray continuously". 1 Thes 5:16-18

    Praying continuously...

  26. Curt Family:

We just returned from the Dennys fundraiser and Pastor/Coach Ben was our server :) I have to tell you, Ben greeted us with the biggest smile ever, and his bubbly personality and contagious laughter made you forget what he forgot... like the bill! I think he should certainly keep his day job but I thought Id share with you the crazy antics that are underway at Dennys-Kahului as we speak. Im sure Dennys will never be the same after Ben, Whitney, Carlos and the many other guest servers made thier mark tonight in support of NBC Bball Camp.

Trust you are recovering steadily in the comfort of home. I hope your pain is minimal to none as you heal. You all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Much Love, Les
